Professor Rosalind W. Picard, Sc.D. is Founder and Director of the Affective Computing Research Group at the MIT Media Lab and heads the lab’s new research on Advancing Wellbeing. Having served on the MIT Media Lab Faculty since 1991, she has authored more than two hundred scientific articles and created dozens of inventions. Picard is the co-founder of Affectiva, Inc., providing software to help measure and communicate emotion from facial expressions, and of Empatica, Inc., which creates wearable sensors and analytics to improve health.
